Good for You, Good for Our Earth

Find out which foods are good for you, as well as good for our earth. Seminar participants will discover small steps that make big differences in their carbon “food” footprint. The food choices we make each and every day are one of the largest predictors of a person’s health and well-being. What most people don’t know, is that the food we eat can also be a significant contributor to global warming. When you add up all the emissions from seed, to plate, to landfill, food accounts for as much as 33% of the planet’s greenhouse gas emissions. These high CO2 emitting foods are often the foods responsible for a person’s increased risk of developing chronic disease.

Nutrition Facts vs. Fiction

Confused about conflicting nutrition and diet messages you hear in the news and media? Then this workshop is for you! Lori will help to clarify the most common questions she is asked in her day-to-day practice, such as; Is the Mediterranean diet really a healthy diet or should I be eating a low fat diet?  Does sugar really cause diabetes or make children hyper? Should I be taking a multi-vitamin? Is organic food healthier?  Prior to the class, you will have the opportunity to send in your diet related questions, where a variety of them will be answered in the time permitting. You will leave this session feeling confident in your health and wellness choices!

Toxins in our Food Supply

Health Canada’s first ever report on Health and Environmental toxin exposed that 91% of Canadians have Bisphenol A (a product found in plastics), in their blood. It is no wonder people are worried about whether there is anything left that is safe to eat! This workshop will increase your knowledge of where to look for toxins in your diet and how to avoid them while still being able to consume a healthy diet rich in variety and taste!
