A new study released in Science News looks a the link between exposure to diesel exhaust and an increase in new blood vessel formation. Question is, does this have a direct effect on Cancer? While it is intuitively unlikely that diesel fumes are good for you, there are other factors that have to be in place for tumors to form. The study here is  an animal study, based or correlation, not causation, and the headline is not quite accurate, but does cause us to ask the question, and to do more research on what polluting our environment does to our long term health.

Below is a summary of one of my favorite new books. It’s called Foods that Prevent Cancer and its by Richard Beliveau and Denis Gingras.  The authors base their recommendations on the scientific studies currently available.
They have found that approximately one-third of all cancers are directly related to diet. To help prevent cancer, they recommended making some of these foods that fight cancer a regular part of your diet.
